Postharvest application of acibenzolar-S-methyl and plant extracts affect physicochemical properties of blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) fruits

The demand for fruits with high anthocyanin content, such as blueberries, has increased in recent years due to their health benefits. However, few studies are known on the postharvest behavior of blueberry subjected application plant extracts and acibenzolar-S-methyl (ASM). objective this research was investigate effect ASM vegetable (mint coriander) organoleptic characteristics stored at 16°C during through a completely randomized design five treatments. contents total anthocyanins (TA) did not differ between treatments, values that ranged 74.1 mg 83.9 100 g-1 fresh weight. TA tended increase storage then decrease senescence. firmness storage, but hardness increase, since softer show wrinkling over time, indicating epidermis great elasticity. showed highest soluble solids titratable acidity. red/green yellow/blue ratio increased, so slightly lost blue hue postharvest. Fruits reached life 15 d after harvest (dah) while other treatments only maintained quality 13 dah.
